SLOPPY JOE PASTA CASSEROLE

If you are a fan of sloppy joes, you will love this pasta casserole. It has the same great flavor, but with pasta and cheese.

Sloppy Joe Pasta Casserole

If you are a fan of regular sloppy joes you will love our recipe. It’s so simple but it’s so good. Homemade is always the way to go!

❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

My family loves sloppy joes so of course this casserole is definitely a favorite. This easy dish takes no time to put together. It really does make the perfect weeknight dinner. I like to make this dish in my cast iron skillet but it can easily be made in a casserole dish.

🍴KEY INGREDIENTS

  • Ground beef or ground turkey
  • Small shell pasta (can use any pasta you like)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Onion
  • Tomato sauce
  • Tomato ketchup
  • Yellow mustard
  • Minced garlic
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Brown sugar

SWAPS

You can use onion powder in place of the onion, just add about a teaspoon. You can also use any cheese you like, my family just prefers cheddar.

🍽️HOW TO MAKE

This casserole is super easy to make and it’s perfect for a busy night. It comes together really quickly and reheats well.

COOKING STEPS

Step 1
Cook pasta according to directions on the box. While pasta is cooking, brown ground beef and onions, drain.

Step 2
Add tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar and let simmer for 5-10 minutes.

Step 3
Stir in pasta and one cup of cheese. Top with remainder of cheese and broil in oven for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted.

Notes:
If making in a casserole dish, place in oven at 350 and cook until warmed through and cheese is melted. If making in a skillet on top of the stove that isn’t suitable for the oven, just cover with a top and the cheese will melt.

⭐TIP

This recipe would also be good with ground chicken, and you could easily add green peppers to it, too.
