❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE
We love how simple this recipe is: buy a precooked spiral ham, cover it with a few things, and then let it cook! It’s a time saver during the holidays, and the flavor is great. We love the sweetness and it’s delicious on our popular cathead biscuits. During the busy holiday dinner prep it’s nice to have this ham cooking while you make all the other goodies.
🍴KEY INGREDIENTS
- Precooked Spiral Ham
- Maple Syrup
- Brown Sugar
- Pineapple Juice
- Yellow Mustard (optional)
QUESTIONS?
You can use a bone in ham if you like, we don’t buy that kind, but it will work just fine. You can use light or dark brown sugar, whichever you prefer. I haven’t tried orange juice in the place of the pineapple juice but I am sure it would be delicious.
WHAT KIND OF HAM DO YOU BUY?
We are big fans of Kentucky Legend Ham, and we love the brand. They sell it here at both Walmart and Kroger but have had Smithfield, too. We buy the spiral-cut ham.
Someone asked, “Why do you say to slice the ham when you have a spiral-cut ham?“ Well, the ham isn’t cut all the way through; you still have to complete the slicing process. That is what we are referring to.
What does the mustard do? It’s totally optional but it will add a little tang to the sweetness if that is a flavor you like.

⭐TIP
Keep the juice that the ham cooks in to spoon over the ham before serving if you want to add a little extra moisture!

Crock Pot Ham
Ingredients
- 1 4-5 lb precooked spiral cut ham
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of maple syrup
- 1 20 ounce can of pineapple tidbits with juice
- Yellow mustard optional
Instructions
- In a 6 quart slow cooker, place the cup of brown sugar all over the bottom. Then drizzle the maple syrup over the brown sugar.
- Next, spread open the slices of the ham a bit so the juices can get in to the ham, and then place the ham in the crock pot.
- Then pour the pineapple with juice over the ham. Next, I take the mustard and drizzle it over the top of the ham.
- Cook the ham on low for 3-4 hours. Before I take the ham out of the crock pot, I will spoon the juices over the entire ham several times.
- After you slice the ham, you can also put some of the juices and pineapple over the ham slices.

husband dislikes pineapple. any other suggestions for pineapple.
Nothing is coming to mind.. I mean maybe mandarin oranges, I don’t really know.
Apple juice works great also
Sadly the only Kentucky Legend ham I could find in my area is the sliced hickory smoked ham. Will this work the same way?
Yes, it should still work fine. As long as the ham is precooked, it will be great. 🙂
Do you put the ham in the slow cooker on its side or flat side down? Thank you!
Flat side down.
Do you use light or dark brown sugar?
You can use either one.
Where do you get your ham from? What type is it?
Per the recipe, it is a precooked spiral ham. You can get one at any grocery store.
If I use a ham that is not spiral cut would I need to adjust the time in the crockpot any at all? I have already purchased a ham and it is a semi-boneless smoked ham. Would love to try this recipe if you think it would work!
No, the cooking time would be the same as long as it is a pre-cooked ham.
I might try this Christmas ,Thanksgiving is turkey time .I bake a turkey in a oven bag
Questions — boneless ham, or bone-in ham?…… hard to tell from picture! Also, if it’s already a spiral cut ham, what slicing is needed (“after you slice the ham”).
It’s a boneless ham and as far as slicing, I was just referring to slicing a piece off, yes it is a spiral sliced ham, but I still had to complete the slicing process.
Could you use ham with a bone in it also .
And not slice
You can use any precooked ham that you like. Thanks!
