This is definitely my best banana bread recipe.  Once you try this one, you will make it all the time.  My only problem with this bread is that I cannot leave it alone and could eat a loaf by myself.  This recipe was an experiment and it turned out to be our best one using bananas ever. One of our most popular recipes. Try this great bread.. I promise your family will love it!

Best Banana Bread Ever Ingredients:

White granulated sugar

Thank you for this recipe! I’ll sound like a broken record based on previous reviews but this is the best banana nut bread I’ve ever made. Very moist (maybe the sour cream helps) & the swirl topping is a bonus. I didn’t make the drizzle since I didn’t feel that it needed it. I’ve actually gained so much confidence in making your recipes. Every one has been a hit!5 stars

Hi I made this today! Its still cooling but I tasted a little and its amazing! I Substituted Buttermilk for the sour cream which I usually do while making banana bread.. I also didn’t have vanilla extract so I used bananas that were nice and over ripe for the extra sweetness! I also added a pinch of cinnamon to the glaze! I can’t wait to really sit don and eat this it looks, smells and tastes amazing! I am so ready for fall to be here!!! Thank you so much for this recipe!

    1. The Southern Lady says:

  30. Delicious! Making for the 2nd time in one week!!! It will definitely replace my other go-to banana nut bread recipe. Thank you for sharing.

  31. I love the difference made by swirling in the brown sugar/cinnamon and the drizzle over top. It makes the bread “wet” in spots and puts it ahead all the rest. Thank you.

  42. My 2nd time making this..It is by far the best ever! It actually has that great banana taste! I changed it a little by using plain Greek Yogurt for the sour cream and we use wheat flour rather than white. Also, this time I use a PACKED 1/2c. brown sugar…Thanks so much!!!

  50. Love this recipe. Got a question.. I’m going to freeze a few loads. How do I reheat it?

    1. The Southern Lady says:

I would put it in the microwave or the oven.

  51. This was so good! I put the crumbles in the middle instead of on top and didn’t really swirl it …it left a pretty marble crunch yummyness in the middle.

  52. Barbara Dowell says:

Planning to make this immediately, but question first. Some recipies I’ve used in the past call for bananas to be a little soft–not like you would want to eat one by itself. Your recommendation please. (Love getting your emailed recipes!)

    1. The Southern Lady says:

I usually use bananas that are a little soft Barbara but not just mushy.
