IMPOSSIBLE ITALIAN PIE
We love a good impossible pie, and this version is a favorite. The Italian sausage and cheese with seasonings are delicious.

WHY YOU WILL LOVE THIS IMPOSSIBLE ITALIAN PIE
It’s called a pie, but you don’t need a pie crust, it makes it’s own! This dish also comes together in around 30 minutes, which is always great for a busy night. We love to make this one and enjoy it for a few different meals. It reheats really well and will last in the fridge for a few days. Super versatile and delicious. We love to grab a bagged salad and have that on the side and you have a super simple dinner!
SWAPS
This is a very versatile recipe, and you can switch up any of the seasonings, and also make this with ground beef or ground turkey. I suggest adding more seasoning if you use ground turkey. You can also switch up the cheese to cheddar!
HOW DOES IT MAKE A CRUST?
The baking mix is what makes the crust! You mix it together with the milk and eggs and pour it over the meat and it makes a very stable crust. You can slice it and take a piece right out of the pan! If you don’t have bisquik, no problem, you can make your own! Here is the recipe.
I THOUGHT IMPOSSIBLE PIES WERE SWEET?
You would be correct, there are many that are sweet, and many people often think of those when they hear the words “impossible pie”. We have loved that version and think they are so easy to make and a quick, simple dessert!

TIP
This pie is made in a deep dish pie pan! I dont think it would fit in a regular pan. This pie reheats well in the microwave. We also love it topped with a little sour cream.

Hello,
Can this recipe be cut in half? If so, what size pan would you recommend.
Thanks
You could try cutting it in half, but you would need a small dish to cook it in, like a small square pyrex dish.. or something like that.. I don’t know the exact size that is called.
My grandma used the recipe on a bisquick box for the Impossible Taco Pie many years ago. I fell in love with it!
I made it once with buttermilk pancake mix because I didn’t have Bisquick and it turned out great!
I don’t have a printer! How can I save this to my email? Please help me
Thank you
Why not just email yourself the link?
I plan on making this, but is there something I can substitute the Bisquick with? Would a regular refrigerated pie crust work? And if so, would cook time and temperature be different? Thank you
You can try it but the bisquick is the binder for the ingredients. So its going to be VERY different. I would suggest a baking mix like bisquick or simply make your own: https://thesouthernladycooks.com/how-to-make-your-own-baking-mix/
What cheeses are in Italian blend I can only find Nexican blend around where I live?
Mozzarella, Provolone, Asiago, Parmesan & Romano cheeses.
Impossible Italian pie….where does the crust come from…photo shows ingredients baked in a crust.
Thanks
Hi Linda,
Impossible pies make their own crust. If you go back and read the entry, you’ll see that we mention that in the beginning of the post. That is what makes it an “impossible pie.” They are made without an actual crust because when cooked, they make their own. Thanks!
Hi there. Your recipe calls for evaporated milk. Ok to substitute 2% or whole milk?
This one sounds really good as all of your recipes are. Thanks!
Yep, that would work just fine.
