❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS DELICIOUS DESSERT
This pie is so good, and we love making it with maple syrup, it just brings out a wonderful flavor with the pecans. We also feel that the addition of ice cream is a big plus. We love this pie heated up, then you add the ice cream, and it really is the most decadent dessert! It’s hard to beat the old classics and this one will always be in my top 5 pie picks. Also, pecan pie is a holiday must-have. This dish must grace the dessert table at either Thanksgiving or Christmas!
🍴KEY INGREDIENTS
- Brown sugar
- Maple syrup (pure maple syrup is best)
- Eggs
- Butter
- Vanilla extract
- Salt
- Pecans, chopped or whole
- 1 unbaked 9 inch pie crust
SWAPS
There really aren’t a lot of swaps for this recipe, but you could switch out the vanilla extract for maple or butter extract. Someone commented they used Khalua in place of the vanilla extract. You could also replace it with rum or bourbon.
🍽️HOW TO MAKE
This pie is so easy to make, the most challenging part will be making the pie crust, but you can always use a store-bought one. You will see in the video a store-bought one was used to save time, but love using this recipe to make our own pie crust.
COOKING STEPS
Step 1
Whisk sugar, syrup, eggs, butter, vanilla, and salt together in bowl. Add pecans.
Step 2
Pour into crust. Bake in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and cook approximately 30 – 40 minutes longer until filling is set in center.
Step 3
Top with ice cream or whipped cream for a wonderful dessert!
⭐TIP
Always make sure your pecans are fresh, as stale pecans will affect the taste of the pie. Let pie cool completely before slicing, so it has time to set up. Although I do like my pie a little warm if served with ice cream, I let it cool and then just heat up a slice in the microwave.
