SCALLOPED POTATOES WITH CHEESE
Scalloped Potatoes with Cheese is always a hit at our house.
This easy recipe for Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes makes the perfect side dish. Super easy to make and is absolutely delicious. Save this recipe for your next family gathering. You might also like to check out our recipe for creamed peas and potatoes.
Scalloped potatoes with cheese is great for any holiday or event or just make it anytime.
1/2 stick butter or margarine
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
2 1/2 cups milk
1 small onion, chopped
4 or 5 cups sliced raw potatoes
salt and pepper
Shredded cheese of your choice
Melt butter in skillet; add flour stirring constantly until well mixed. Pour in milk and bring to a rolling boil until milk thickens like a sauce or gravy. Place a layer of potatoes in baking dish. Sprinkle with chopped onion, salt and pepper. Pour sauce over potatoes. Continue until all potatoes are in dish. Cover and cook in a preheated 350 degree oven for one hour. Remove cover and cook for 30 more minutes. Sprinkle with shredded cheese of your choice. Return to oven until cheese is melted. Can top with chopped green onions and chopped parsley for color. Makes about 8 servings. Enjoy!
