CARAMEL PECAN BARS
These delicious caramel pecan bars are only a few ingredients and absolutely delicious. Perfect for any potluck or gathering! My family loves these and they are so simple to prepare. Similar to layer bars, but with a few different ingredients. Definitely put these on your “must make” list!
Caramel Pecan Bars Ingredients Needed:
Vanilla wafers
Sugar
Butter
Sweetened condensed milk
Egg
Honey
Butterscotch chips
Pecans
Notes: You can easily switch out the chips for a different flavor. You could use walnuts instead of pecans. These can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator but I would recommend letting them sit out for a bit before serving.

- 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk.
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of honey

This recipe uses a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. I have a glass one. Do you recommend reducing the temperature to 325 degrees when using a glass pan? Do you prefer alight metal pan rather than a glass pan? Thank you for your recipes.
I have made it in both and it worked just fine, but we use a metal pan more often. You could decrease the temperature, it should still work just fine.
These are named caramel pecan bars, but (for a caramel lover like me) they are definitely butterscotch pecan bars not caramel. I’d like to try them next time with caramel bits vs butterscotch chips and more pecans. The vanilla wafer crust is delicious, and they are otherwise a very sweet, tastey treat.
How do think it would work to use heavy cream in place of the sweetened condensed milk? This makes it SO sweet, it just about makes me sick. I just can’t handle that much sugar.
This looks so good, and I hate to waste pecans.
Thanks
You can always try it, I can’t say since I have never tried that. If you do try it, let me know how it goes!
This is one of my favorite recipes on your website! So easy and always a hit! I’ve taken these to so many events and always come home with an empty pan!
Could you use graham crackers instead ?
I think that would work just fine.
It says 1.5 cups ( 12 ounces) of crushed cookies, 12 ounces of crushed is more then a cup and a half. Do you use the hike box or just a cup an a half?
Don’t make this harder than it is, just use about a cup and half of crushed cookies. It’s not going to mess up the recipe if you use more.
These were amazing!!!!! So easy and delicious! Thank you for sharing.
