Pan fried cod fish is an easy recipe and delicious anytime.
1 pound cod fish fillets 3/4 cup buttermilk (could use regular milk) 1 cup cornmeal 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional) We like the garlic! 1/4 cup oil (I use Canola) Mix the cornmeal, salt, pepper and garlic powder together in a shallow pan. Dip fillets in buttermilk, then in cornmeal mixture. Brown on both sides in hot oil. Turn heat down to medium and let cook about 5 to 10 minutes. Enjoy! Try my Southern cornmeal hushpuppies and fried potatoes, too! Don’t forget to pin.

How many servings is this recipe? I am cooking for me, husband, and two adult sons.
A pound of fish is not much, Delyn. It is what you see on the plate.
I do love fish of any kind served with hushpuppies and potatoes Yum yum yummy thanks for sharing..
Yummmmmmmm!!! My mouth is watering!! My husband and I love pan fried cod, and I totally agree that some fried fish with hush puppies, coleslaw, and fried tators is the absolute best! I have to add that I also have come to love and appreciate fried pickles with this meal! 🙂
Wonderful. I’ve been hoping to see you do a fish like this. It looks fantastic. I’m glad they’re pan fried too since I don’t like deep frying at home. (Too messy.)
It DOES make my mouth water, Judy! As does the thought of hush puppies and fried potatoes. 🙂 I like the garlic, too. We use a lot of it, especially now with our garden vegetables coming in.
