❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE
There are so many different ways to make these no-bake cookies but this is one of my favorites. I cannot leave these cookies alone when they are in the house. I like how easy they are to make and they are always a hit when I serve them. Plus the fact that they are only a few ingredients is just a bonus!
🍴KEY INGREDIENTS
- Sugar
- Butter
- Evaporated milk (can use regular milk)
- Vanilla extract
- Peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
- Quick-cooking oats, uncooked
SWAPS
We like these best with the creamy peanut butter but they are delicious either way.
🍽️HOW TO MAKE
Super simple to make and the trick is to make sure it is BOILING. You can’t just let it come to a little boil, it needs to be a hard boil so they will harden. Full recipe in printable recipe card below.
📖COOKING STEPS
Step 1
Combine sugar, butter and milk in a pan on top of the stove. Bring to a hard boil and boil for 1 minute, stirring to make sure the ingredients do not stick.
Step 2
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and peanut butter until mixture is melted and smooth. Fold in oats and drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper. Let cool. Makes about 24 cookies depending on size you make them. Please see notes in recipe card.

Hi there…once you bring them to a hard boil, how long to let it boil like that before removing from heat and adding the rest
The directions say “Bring to a hard boil and boil for 1 minute, stirring to make sure ingredients do not stick”
Sure do wish I could pin these recipes to my Pinterest board!
Why can’t you? People pin our recipes all day every single day. There is a pin icon at the bottom of every single recipe on this website. If you can’t see it, then you have an ad blocker on that is blocking it.
These are so good! The girls at work used to beg me to make these! Making a batch tonight to take to the grandkids tomorrow. 🙂
These are really, really good…I added a cup of dried raisins and cranberries so I can pretend It doesn’t taste like candy! They are creamy and delicious as your recipe promised. Thanks!
What wonderful additions! Sounds delicious. So glad you enjoyed the recipe. Have a wonderful week.
Scrumptious – I am not a big chocolate fan, so these are my kind of cookie. I absolutely love these. Thanks so much for a great recipe.
So glad you enjoyed them Brenda!
Would these work using almond butter? I don’t like peanut butter
Sorry, I have never tried it with almond butter, so cannot advise you, Elaine.
My kids & grandkids love no bake cookies. I made these & the chocolate no bakes for our get together for Valentine’s day. They came out perfect & everyone loved them. Thank you so much for all the good recipes.
Love hearing you enjoyed them both. You’re very welcome!
Thank you so much. I love your recipes.
You are so welcome, Suann, and thank you. Happy to have you on the site.
Can you use splenda to make them
I have only made them the way the recipe says, so I can’t advise.
No, you cannot. The sugar not only contributes the sweetness, but also structure for the cookie. There is 1 1/2 cups of sugar, more than any other ingredient, except the oats. If you take the sugar out everything is changed and you have nothing to replace it with. The splenda will contribute sweetness, but no structure.
Love your recipes ! I am looking for a recipe for buttered, salted toasted Pecans. My Grandma in West Point, MS. would make these in a iron skillet, with butter and salt. She would put them in the oven to ‘toast” and crisp them as she called it. stirring them at times. Do you have any way I can find this recipe ? They were so buttery and crisp with just the right amount of salt..Thanks so much and keep up the great work !! God Bless you..
Hi Terry, Thank you so much for your kind comment. I don’t have a recipe on the site for toasted pecans but I just melt some butter in the microwave, dip the pecans in the melted butter, spread on a baking sheet or you could use an iron skillet put in a preheated 325 degree oven for about 10 minutes stirring after five minutes. It doesn’t take long and you need to watch to make sure they don’t burn. You can salt them after you bake them or add some salt before. I would just go by taste on the salt. I hope this helps. We have a recipe for candied pecans that are delicious on our site. You can check that out here: https://thesouthernladycooks.com/2016/08/20/how-to-make-southern-candied-pecans/ Hope this helps you.
These no bake peanut butter oatmeal cookies are to die for ! Really a nice change from the ones with chocolate, just wonderful !
