Make Your Own Cranberry SauceHere is how to make your own Cranberry Sauce. Cranberries are a superfood and should be in your diet year round.  Cranberries outrank most other fruits and vegetables in Vitamin C and antioxidants.  They are good for urinary tract infections, blood pressure, the progression of tumors and gum disease.  There is only 45 calories in 1/2 cup of cranberries.

It is so easy to make your own cranberry sauce. We eat this all the time and not just during the holidays.  It goes great with so many dishes.  We love it with any kind of pork or chicken served as a side dish.  This sauce keeps well in the refrigerator for at least a week.  You can make it sweeter if you like but we like the tartness.

Homemade cranberry sauce is good anytime!

1 (12 ounce) package cranberries or about 3 cups (can use frozen)

1/2 cup white granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup orange juice

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Place white sugar, brown sugar and orange juice in a pan on top of the stove. Heat till dissolves.  Pour in cranberries, bring to simmer and cook 8 to 10 minutes until berries start to pop.  Remove and mash berries. I just use the back of a wooden spoon.  Refrigerate several hours before serving. They will become thicker as they cool.  Makes about 1 1/2 cups cranberry sauce. Enjoy!

Note:  Try adding a drained 15 ounce can of mandarin oranges to this once in a while for an option.
