Garlic Powder

As you can see it doesn’t take much to make up these Fried Potato Cakes. Simple ingredients and easy to make. You can serve them with any kind of dipping sauce. Personally sour cream is our favorite and we add chives to the sour cream! I think Ranch Dressing or Honey Mustard is also a good addition.

    1. Thank you for the kind comment. We love them too! They have been a family favorite for many years.

  2. I tried this recipe even though I have a good recipe and have been making them for years. Sorry, but these were awful. There is way too much flour in the batter. I usually only put about two tablespoons in my recipe.2 stars

    1. Tricia, just because a recipe doesnt work for you, doesnt mean its an awful recipe. Obviously you were not a fan but that is perfectly fine. I have eaten things in the past that many people liked that I wasnt fond of, that is life. As you can see from the comments other people really enjoy them. Thanks!

I used corn mill instead of flower. I had to dump some vegetable oil. I had it too high on the pan . Small case iron . Do you have a measurement for how far it goes up the side of the cast iron ? I have deferent sizes of case iron pans From 6in. to 15 in. I following your recipe but just changing the cornmeal for the flower. Thanks

    1. hmm.. probably about 1/2 inch and add a few patties to it and see how they do and then if you need more, you can add more on the next batch.

  13. I made as the receipe called for, I only used my electric griddle buttered instead. The potato cakes turned out nice and golden brown but I feel like the 1 cup of flour is too much. Can I use less or possibly sub for almond flour?4 stars

  14. Keith Peterson says:

Excellent. Very tasty and satisfying – my family liked them. The only tricky part was the transfer from the floured board to pan, haha. Everything went well accordingly. I cooked them a non-stick pan, but definitely will use iron next time for a good sear and crispy outside.

    Thanks for the recipe
