CLOVE COOKIES – OLD FASHIONED RECIPE
Clove cookies are so quick and easy and so good!
This old fashioned recipe is one you will go to time after time because they are addicting. Once you eat a couple, you will keep going back for more. These clove cookies make a great gift for anyone and are a good recipe to serve friends and family during the holidays like Christmas or Thanksgiving. I can eat this whole recipe with coffee and they make a wonderful snack with milk. You can double the recipe and they keep well in an airtight container. Ingredients for clove cookies:
1 stick butter or 8 tablespoons or 1/2 cup, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Cream butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract and egg with a mixer. Whisk together the flour and ground cloves in a separate bowl and add to the creamed mixture. Fold in nuts. Lightly spray a cookie sheet with spray and drop by tablespoons onto sheet. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 2 dozen cookies. Enjoy!

If you like the flavor of cloves you will loves these I did find that they really spread when baking I’m going to try 1/2 cup more flour next time wondering if baking powder or baking soda would also help
I am going to try these. I had a recipe years ago for a clove cookie that involved heating something on top of the stove. The cookies were wonderful, and my husband loved them, but the recipe has gone a-missing. So I will try these this year and see how they go over.
