My family loves this recipe for Southern fried rice.  It makes the perfect side dish for any meal and goes with just about any meat you are serving.  This recipe can easily be doubled and you should be able to freeze it with no problem.  Southern fried rice is great for a busy work night and your family will love it.  I make this dish often.  You might also like to check out our recipe for okra fritters.

Southern Fried Rice Ingredients Needed:

Bacon

Onion or can use green onions

Green pepper

Celery

Cooked rice of any kind

Soy sauce

Note:  You could add pimentos or mushrooms to this dish.  I also added a little chopped red sweet pepper just for color.

Southern Fried Rice

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion or can use green onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 2 cups cooked rice of any kind
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce

Instructions

  • Cook bacon in a skillet, remove and drain on paper towels. Leave bacon drippings in skillet and add onion, green pepper and celery cooking until browned.
  • Add cooked rice and soy sauce and cook on medium low for about 10 minutes to combine flavors.

Notes

You could add pimentos or mushrooms to this dish. I also added a little chopped red sweet pepper just for color.
