Slow Cooker Chicken Apples Potatoes/Cabbage

This is an easy recipe for a great comfort food.  Add some cornbread muffins and you have a meal!  We love meals that are easy and delicious and make a quick weeknight meal for family.  This dish just fits the bill and my family asks for it often.  A great way to use up extra apples you might have on hand, too. Try this recipe and serve it to family anytime you want something you can just throw together.  You could always add some other veggies to this such as carrots or even peppers.  You might also like to check out our recipe made in the crock pot for jambalaya.

Slow cooker chicken apples potatoes and cabbage will quickly become a favorite.

 
3 or 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut in thirds
1/2 head cabbage shredded
1 onion, peeled and separated in rings
2 (15 oz.) cans chicken broth
4 or 5 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
2 or 3 small apples, peeled, cored and sliced
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon ginger
Dash red pepper or several drops hot pepper sauce
Salt and Pepper
 
Place shredded cabbage in bottom of slow cooker.  Add onion rings, apple slices, and chicken pieces.  Add salt and pepper and hot sauce to chicken pieces.  Place potatoes on top of chicken.  Add soy sauce and ginger to chicken broth and pour into slow cooker.  Cook 7 hours on low.  If liquid gets low add some water.   Enjoy!

Ingredients
