Red Velvet Cake is a classic that is perfect for any occasion.

Red Velvet Cake The Southern Lady Cooks

Red velvet cake is one of my very favorite cake recipes.  I have been making them for years!  Everyone loves this red velvet cake and you will make this over and over again.  This is a good wedding cake, birthday cake or just make it to serve family and friends anytime. The movie Steel Magnolias in 1989  featured a red velvet groom’s cake made in the shape of an armadillo. This cake is widely considered a Southern recipe by most people although it is served in many places in the north.  Popular frostings are cream cheese and buttercream.  This is a moist, light, and fluffy cake that is wonderful with coffee.  Red velvet cake is a great addition to any holiday meal or buffet table. Recipe Comments: “Friday my granddaughter and I made this cake for my oldest daughter, my granddaughters’ aunt, for her birthday. Red Velvet and Carrot Cake are her two favorites. It was sooooo delish and oh, sooooo RICH!!!! It’s been a very long time since I’ve made “from scratch” but, it was certainly worth it!!!!”-Beverly

“I made this last year for Christmas. Had never made a red velvet cake before. Several red velvet cake lovers told me it was the best they had ever had! So, if you’re looking for a good recipe, this one is it!”-Carmen
