HANDY FOOD TIP – MAKE YOUR OWN ALLSPICE SUBSTITUTE

Allspice is used in a lot of sweet desserts like cakes and pies.

Did you ever get ready to make a recipe and check the cupboard for spices to find that you don’t have the one you are looking for?  Here is a handy tip on how to make your own allspice in case you run out. This is a substitute for allspice that will work for you in recipes.  Check out our recipe for how to make apple pie spice. How to make a substitute for allspice:

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Combine and mix well.  Makes 1 teaspoon allspice substitute.

You can always make more and store in an air-tight container for future use in recipes.
