The Double the Chocolate cookies are so good they are addictive.

Double the chocolate Cookies The Southern Lady Cooks

These are the best chocolate cookies I have ever made.  I don’t make them often because I make myself sick on them.  Children love these cookies.   Santa loves these cookies, too.  Just leave a glass of milk and a plate of these chocolate delights under the tree and Santa may not go back to the North Pole!

Double the Chocolate Cookies

1 cup softened butter
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
 2 cups chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Beat the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth, add in the 2 eggs and vanilla and beat well.  Mix in flour, cocoa powder,  and baking soda.  Fold in chocolate chips mixing just enough to evenly combine.  Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet.  Bake from 9 to 12 minutes.  Allow cookies to cool for one minute before removing from baking sheet.   Makes about 4 dozen cookies but they won’t last long!  Enjoy.

These cookies don’t need any liquid at all ? Could you use a box of cake mix, and add more cocoa and same amount of choc. chips ?

    1. The Southern Lady says:

No, they don’t need the liquid. I have only made them by the recipe. You can try, that’s all I can tell you.

  2. They look so goooooood…1 question – do I need dark brown or can I use the light brown sugar

    1. The Southern Lady says:

You can use either one, Shirley.
