Macaroni and cheese is a Southern favorite.

Macaroni and cheese is a great side dish for any meal.  Your family will love the richness of this easy recipe for this old favorite. This recipe has many great reviews and it is perfect for any occasion. Serve it during holidays, take it to any gathering or just make it for family and friends at home.  We can’t get enough of this dish and if you take it somewhere, you won’t bring any home. Macaroni and cheese goes great with our recipe for Southern baked beans.

Ingredients for Macaroni and Cheese:

1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni, cooked according to package directions

2/3 cup evaporated milk

1 egg, beaten

1/3 cup sour cream

4 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened

2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup velveeta cheese or 8 ounces cut into pieces(If you don’t like velveeta, just add 3 cups cheddar instead of 2)

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

Cook macaroni according to package directions and drain.  Add butter and cheeses to macaroni and mix well  Beat egg,  milk, sour cream,  pepper and salt together with a wire whisk.  Add to macaroni and cheese.  Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray and add macaroni.  Cook covered with foil in a 350 degree preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes.   This makes about six servings.  You can double the recipe if needed.  Enjoy!
