BLACK WALNUT COOKIES

Black Walnut Cookies - The Southern Lady Cooks

These Black Walnut Cookies are super easy to make and have a great taste. If you like black walnuts you will love these cookies. Leigh and I worked at Baskin Robbins when we were in high school and we always loved the black walnut ice cream. So these cookies were a big hit!

Black Walnut Cookies Ingredients Needed:

Butter

White Granulated Sugar

Brown Sugar (light or dark)

Eggs

Vanilla Flavoring

All Purpose Flour

Baking Soda

Cream Cheese Flavored Chips

Black Walnuts

We made these cookies with Hershey’s Cream Cheese Chips (like chocolate chips, but are cream cheese flavored) and they were a wonderful addition. We bought them at Kroger and they really are delicious. If you can’t find the chips, you can always just buy a can of cream cheese frosting and frost these cookies too.

Black Walnuts have a very unique taste and are definitely stronger than regular walnuts. We thought these cookies were better the next day so you can easily make them in advance!

You may also love these Cinnamon and Pecan Cookies! They are very popular.

  1. One of my favorite ice cream flavors is black walnut from a regional ice cream chain out of Oklahoma so I was excited to see a recipe using black walnuts! Unfortunately I had to throw out these cookies after baking just two batches and did the same with the remaining batter. Black walnuts have a distinct flavor from regular walnuts so make sure you know that before making these cookies. The baking temperature seems off because after 15 minutes I still had a pool of greasy undercooked cookie dough. I left the second batch in the oven a little longer which helped but the flavor was so off they couldn’t be eaten. Sorry ladies, I love all of your recipes that I’ve made but this one was a big disappointment. 🙁

Not every recipe is going to work for everyone and I am not sure why you had an issue with making these cookies, because this recipe we use for many of our other cookies. The cream cheese chips and the black walnuts is a combination we really enjoy. I agree, I love black walnut ice cream, I worked at Baskin Robbins as a kid and ate it every week! HA! So.. maybe you are not a fan of black walnuts, because yes.. they are very distinct flavor. Sorry this one didnt work, but we have never had an issue with this cookie recipe.

I will have our tech team look at it. Why don’t you just sign up for our actual newsletter instead of an RSS feed? On desktop, without a browser extension or web app, there is no longer a native RSS reader. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to find any consumers who actively say they use an “RSS Reader” It’s a very outdated practice to even subscribe to an RSS feed.
