Bacon cheese spread is a quick, easy recipe you can make if you need something in a hurry.  This cheese spread is made in the microwave and is wonderful to serve friends and family at any gathering or holiday event.  You could double the recipe if you need more and it keeps well refrigerated for several days.  We love it for watching movies or football games on t.v.  Make this for a gift with several different types of crackers.  I eat this as soon as I make it but it is best when refrigerated for a few hours.  You might also like our recipe for shoepeg corn dip.

5 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese

2 teaspoons prepared horseradish

2 to 3 drops hot sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

pinch cayenne

Cook bacon, crumble and set aside.  Combine cheddar, Monterey Jack, creamed cheese, horseradish, hot sauce and garlic powder in a bowl.  Microwave on high for about 1 1/2 minutes or until melted and you can stir it together.  Remove from microwave and stir in crumbled bacon saving a few crumbles to put on top.  Sprinkle a pinch of cayenne on top and refrigerate for a couple hours.  Spread on assorted crackers.  Makes about 2 1/2 cups.  Enjoy!

Note:  You can change up the cheeses in this recipe and use your favorites.
