I swapped 1/2 cup nonfat Greek yogurt for the 1/2 cup oil. I use the butter as directed. It came out great and saved a ton of calories using the yogurt.
I tried this bread today; it is absolutely delicious! I used stevia and the brown sugar blend in place of regular sugar since I’m diabetic. So good! Most and light and soft, with the nutty crunch. Doubly delicious a little warm. This is a keeper for sure!
YAY!! I am so glad this recipe worked for you! Thank you for sharing the changes.
I’ve made it three times. It is the best recipe ever. Who knew Alabama pecan bread could so addictive? You have the best recipes. I think the butter is what makes this amazing.
I love that your recipe has butter! I made it with a recipe that called for all oil but butter is needed in this, so much better! I finally got brave and added 1/2 cup extra of flour and baked it in a loaf pan. I had to bake it a little longer and covered it towards the end and reduced the temperature a little so that it didn’t get too brown but it came out great!!!
YAY!!! That is wonderful!!
Rating of 5!
Ladies, this has been prepared in our farm kitchen all my life, I am 77 and remember the wonderful smell wafting, drifting about mixed with the wood smoke from the stove. The beautiful old pecan trees still produce each year to provide us with this delicacy.
Believe it or not. we had Pulled Pork, Black Eyed Peas. Okra and Tomatoes, Rice, Collard Greens, Cornbread and Pecan Bread with Ice Cream for dessert. I use this same recipe adding 3 bananas. I wish you all the best in the New Year.
What a delicious meal!! Thank you Sharon! We hope you have the best year yet!!
Love this!
I made this and it was unbelievably delicious! I don’t care for overly sweet breads and while this was perfection, I’ll probably reduce the sugar just a bit next time due to my health concerns. It went so well with my coffee and an elderly relative asked me to make it again ASAP!
Thrilled to hear it was a hit!
Just made this and it’s delicious! Love the butter/oil combo. I added a half teaspoon of butter extract but that was the only change I made. So good with hot tea or coffee! Next time I will toast my pecans beforehand. Can’t wait to make more and place in my freezer.
Just made this and my kitchen smells amazing! I am now eating it with a cup of coffee and I am a happy, happy girl!!!

Ps I looked at a couple of others recipes but they had oil only and I thought at least half butter would taste better so I am glad I found yours.
Glad to hear this recipe was a hit!
Love this bread
Could this be baked in a loaf pan?
I have never seen this bread baked in a loaf pan, honestly, I don’t know if that would work well.
