Sausage Spinach Dip The Southern Lady Cooks

Sausage spinach dip recipe is good anytime! It is great for game day, for parties and gatherings or just anytime you have family and friends over and want a good dip that makes a lot to serve. Serve it with an assortment of crackers or chips. It will keep in the refrigerator for several days and can be reheated in the microwave. Recipe could be cut in half.

Sausage Spinach Dip

1 pound pork sausage
1 green pepper, chopped
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chilies, drained
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise or miracle whip
pinch cayenne or few drops hot sauce, optional
2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided
2 cups chopped fresh baby spinach

Combine sausage, green pepper, onion, black pepper, minced garlic, salt and green chiles in a skillet on top of the stove. Brown, drain and set aside. Combine cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, hot sauce, one cup of the cheese and baby spinach in a mixing bowl. Mix with a mixer. Fold in sausage mixture with a spoon. Spray a 2 quart baking dish with cooking spray and spread in bowl. Sprinkle the other cup of shredded cheese on top. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Makes about 5 cups of dip. Enjoy!

Note: You could substitute Italian sausage, ham or about any kind of meat in this recipe and use whatever cheese you like.
