NUTTY OAT PANCAKES
Pancakes are considered a treat by my family because I make them so many different ways. You will love the nutty oat flavor of these pancakes. Serve them with syrup of your choice, honey, molasses and lots of butter! My family loves pancakes for breakfast and we have them often especially on the weekends. Check out lots of other pancakes recipes on our site. Children will love these treats as well as adults. A great recipe to serve for breakfast or brunch on holidays to your guests and family. A good way to add oats and fiber to your diet. These are great with fruit syrups like blueberry, blackberry or even strawberry. We love them with maple syrup, too. If you have any left over just put in a sandwich in the fridge and reheat in the microwave the next day.
1/2 cup whole wheat flour 1 cup all-purpose flour 3/4 cup rolled oats 1/4 cup sugar 2 tablespoons baking powder 1 egg 2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring 2 tablespoons oil (I use Canola) 1/4 cup sour cream 1 cup buttermilk 1/2 cup walnut pieces Butter or margarine for cooking Mix all ingredients with a spoon and fold in walnuts. This will be a thick batter. You won’t be able to pour it. I dip it with a 1/4 cup measuring cup for each pancake. Have your griddle or skillet hot, add a pat of butter and cook pancakes on each side until browned. Makes about 10 pancakes depending on size you make them. Enjoy!
