Separate into even more layers; fry quickly, lay on paper towels, and immediately sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Crispy appetizer pickups! Judy serves these from Cabin 72 at the annual Neshoba County Fair, Philadelphia, MS.
When I was a scout in the 60’s and 70’s, when overnight camping one of the things we loved was biscuit on a stick. We cut green sticks, then stretched the biscuits and wrapped around the end of the stick. Rotate over fire till done, slide off the stick and squirt jelly in the hole. I now have 5 grands and when we camp, we try to always make these.
We have our first camping trip of the season in 2 weeks. Going to try this to make breakfast sandwiches on the griddle. Thank you!
My cub scouts would quarter refrigerator biscuits. I deep fried them, and the kids would shake them in ziplock bags in cinnamon sugar or brown sugar, or powdered sugar.
I tried this from a YouTube site out of desperation for biscuits when we camp. But sadly we can’t seem to master it on our griddle. I tried it again in a skillet in the RV and they were a little better. I don’t use my oven in the RV, I’ve heard too many horror stories on that. I admit I need to keep trying because biscuits and sausage gravy are my favorite. I’m glad to see you have made some gorgeous one.
I pat a little cornmeal on each side then fry them. Split them like english muffins.
I’m sitting at the Bell Buckle Cafe and the lady behind me ordered fried Biscuits… Now I was born and raised in the south but never heard of fried biscuits. Well I had to google them. They sound great and will have to try them. Thanks for all the reviews!
This popped up this morning and it sounded so simple good I had to try it to night. Made these on the Blackstone griddle and they came out great with our shrimp salad. We sent most of dinner time thinking of different way to use the biscuits. One way I came up with is open one side and stuff pulled bbq pork in.
Oooh….brush with garlic butter and sprinkle with Italian seasoning!
There is only 2 of us – Can I open up the can and use a few of them today – then refrigerate the rest of them in a zip lock to use the next day???
I think that would work ok, Denise but I have not tried it.
I’ve done that many times, works great!!
I just always wrap the rest up TIGHTLY in cling wrap, then into a ziplock;)
These also come in a small can. Only 5 I think. That is what I usually buy.
Thanks for this idea. We put a little cinnamon and sugar on ours before we put them on the griddle.
I did these biscuits 30 years ago While we were camping when our boys were little It was a special treat we only did when camping.
These are delicious dipped in sugar and cinnamon.
Glad you like these biscuits, Gail, and yes, we like them with sugar and cinnamon, too. Have a great week ahead.
Love your recipes . I was or needed to find out how do you measure a clove of garlic? If you don’t have anything other than the garlic…. The recipe with the fried biscuits my grandchildren will love… thank you!
I hope this helps you Wendy: (Substitute 1/8 teaspoon powder for every clove of garlic called for in recipe.) OR. garlic salt (Substitute 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt for every clove of fresh garlic called for in recipe.
Cannot wait to try this. Never had fried biscuits.
I will definitely be making this.
I use to shape into a donut poking a hole in the middle.fry then pour a powdered sugar glaze over.
Can you freeze them after frying for use later on?
I see no reason why you can’t.
Must try this! My mom used to flatten out canned biscuits and fill with fruit filling to make fried pies! Loved those and this sounds delicious too!
Hope you enjoy the recipe, Sheila, and have a great week ahead.
My Mama did too using dried apples and we called them Fried Apple Pies!
Omg I used this for my cinnamon rolls..yummy
I agree with Carole: their griddle biscuits are delicious! Southern Lady, what do you think of using Grands frozen biscuits in this recipe? Of course they need time to thaw first, but I like the flavor of them much more than refrigerated ones.
I think that would work just fine 🙂
My grandmother used to split her biscuits that she made, put butter on them and fry them like the canned ones you show here. Loved them.
So I went to Bob Evan’s today and my husband and myself tried their new griddle biscuits. OMG, this biscuit has changed our lives. So, I immediately started scouring the internet for the recipe and wouldn’t you know it my favorite southern lady has a quick and easy recipe for griddle biscuits. I’m making these ASAP! Thank you.
So glad you found this recipe! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Have a wonderful week 🙂
I deep fry mine when I’m frying fish
Thanks..these sound yummy! Love all your recipes ..easy to make and easy to find!
So glad you are enjoying them!
I literally FRY my biscuits in canola or vegetable oil. I use the ” Grands Homestyle Buttermilk” biscuits. I pre-heat a deep fryer with about 3-4 inches of oil to a temp of 350 degrees. Remove biscuits from can and place them in the hot oil. When they become golden brown, flip them with a fork and allow them to become golden brown on the flipped side. They cook fast, so do pay attention to them. These biscuits are beyond delicious!!! I love to eat them with sausages, jam, jelly, syrup or whatever you desire. Believe it or not, they DO NOT absorb a lot of oil as one would probably think. Try it!! Do not buy the ” flaky ” type biscuits because they WILL flake apart if you attempt to fry them. A co-worker told me about cooking biscuits this way many years ago and to this day, I still do.
I use the honey butter biscuits punch a hole in the middle with a Iid off a bottle of water fry in oil, glaze with powdered sugar, vanilla & water, my grandson thinks I am the BEST doughnut maker in the world ❤️ Love this idea for sausage gravy when camping especially! Love your cooking too!
