BAKED CHOCOLATE DONUTS
Baked chocolate donuts are so easy and delicious.
These little baked chocolate donuts are a favorite for breakfast with my family and they are wonderful with your morning coffee. We love them on holidays or anytime we have guests. They make a great snack with milk and can be decorated for Christmas or add your favorite frosting. I just drizzled on our recipe for a basic powdered sugar glaze and then added some red and green sprinkles since I made these for Christmas.
Baked chocolate donuts will quickly become a favorite.
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup white granulated sugar
1/3 cup 100% cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup Greek yogurt or can use sour cream
1/3 cup vegetable oil (I used Crisco)
1/3 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup chocolate chips
Whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in a mixing bowl. Beat the eggs in another bowl with a fork or can use mixer. Stir yogurt or sour cream into the eggs along with buttermilk, oil and vanilla extract. Combine with dry mixture and stir with spoon until all ingredients are wet. Fold in chocolate chips. Mixture will be thick. Spray a 12 cup donut baking pan with cooking spray. Fill cups about half full. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 8 or 9 minutes until donuts test done in the middle. Allow to cool in pan for 10 minutes, remove and let cool completely before adding frosting. Makes 1 1/2 dozen small donuts.
