Cuisine American
Servings 10 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of butter melted
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 cup of apple cider

Topping Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of granulate sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together, melted butter and sugar once mixed add the rest of the ingredients and mix with a mixer until full mixed. The mixture was runny until you get it all mixed together. Grease bundt pan. Pour mix evenly into bundt pan and cook for 35-38 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on oven. Mine was done at 35 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes and then remove from pan.
  • Mix cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkle on warm cake. I actually bought cinnamon sugar already mixed (in the spice section) so I could easily shake it on to the cake.

I made this today, however, I am on a no sugar added diet so I substituted Lakanto golden and white monk fruit allulose blend. The cake came out very well with a lovely crumb. I mixed the cinnamon with the white monk fruit and allulose for the topping.5 stars

    1. Im so glad to hear this worked so well and thank you so much for sharing!

  2. Donna Genova says:

Made this cake baking went well but after cooling time it was not an easy release. I sprayed my Bundt pan with Bakers Joy that I have used for years and never had a problem. Cake eventually came out broken in half that I was able to seam together so was not noticeable. But still not happy that it did not come out of pan easily

    1. As you can see from the photos, we have no issue getting this cake out of the pan. 🙂

  3. I have made this cake many times, always with the recommended Butterscotch sauce 🙂 It is so, so good, and has become my teenage daughter’s annual birthday cake request.5 stars

  4. Can this recipe be made in mini loaf pans? If so how long do I bake them?

    1. The Southern Lady says:

I have no idea, you can always try it.

    2. The Southern Lady says:

You can try it, I’ve never made it in mini loaf pans, so I can’t advise.

  5. I made this cake yesterday and had a problem taking it out of the Bundt pan. I sprayed it thoroughly with cooking spray as I always do, but the cake would not come out after ten minutes following the recipe directions. I kept trying to remove it at ten minute intervals to no avail. After an hour I finally had to pry it loose with a knife and it fell out in pieces. Maybe I should have floured the pan as well? While the cake has good flavor, it is heavy and chewy. I also noticed the cake did not rise very much. Perhaps the flour should have been added to the batter last and mixed until just combined.3 stars

    1. The Southern Lady says:

Hi Aly, if the cake doesn’t come out of a cake pan after 10-15 minutes, then it is for sure stuck. Obviously, cakes sticking to bundt pans is something every baker has dealt with, and you’ll need to figure out what works best with your bundt pan. Also, if your cake didn’t rise, I would check your baking soda or baking powder. As you can see from the photos, this cake definitely rises up. This cake has wonderful reviews but not everyone can have success with every recipe. Thanks so much!

      1. Thanks for your response. I’m going to try making it again and take your suggestion about the baking powder as it is an older can. Also, I will try greasing the Bundt pan even more or might use the baking spray that has flour in it. The cake does have excellent flavor so I feel it’s worth giving it another try.

  6. There is no salt in the batter of this recipe. Is that correct? It has baking soda and baking powder so there is usually a little salt. Please advise!

    1. The Southern Lady says:

We don’t add salt to this recipe. Please see the other comments on this cake. Many have enjoyed it. Feel free to add whatever you like.

  7. Chantal Salpetrier says:

  9. Kathi Plomin says:

    What size bundt pan?

    1. The Southern Lady says:

      I used a 10 inch.

  10. When the recipe calls for all purpose flour, cake you use self-rising flour snd omit the salt , soda or baking powder?

    1. The Southern Lady says:

All-purpose flour is versatile as it contains an average amount of protein. … Self-rising flour should only be used when a recipe calls for self-rising flour because salt and baking powder (which is a leavening agent) have been added and distributed evenly through the flour

  11. Melba Jones says:
