Apple Cider Donut Cake
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of butter melted
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of cloves
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 2 cups of all purpose flour
- 1 cup of apple cider
Topping Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of granulate sugar
- 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together, melted butter and sugar once mixed add the rest of the ingredients and mix with a mixer until full mixed. The mixture was runny until you get it all mixed together. Grease bundt pan. Pour mix evenly into bundt pan and cook for 35-38 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on oven. Mine was done at 35 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes and then remove from pan.
- Mix cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkle on warm cake. I actually bought cinnamon sugar already mixed (in the spice section) so I could easily shake it on to the cake.

Can this recipe be made in mini loaf pans? If so how long do I bake them?
I have no idea, you can always try it.
You can try it, I’ve never made it in mini loaf pans, so I can’t advise.
I made this cake yesterday and had a problem taking it out of the Bundt pan. I sprayed it thoroughly with cooking spray as I always do, but the cake would not come out after ten minutes following the recipe directions. I kept trying to remove it at ten minute intervals to no avail. After an hour I finally had to pry it loose with a knife and it fell out in pieces. Maybe I should have floured the pan as well? While the cake has good flavor, it is heavy and chewy. I also noticed the cake did not rise very much. Perhaps the flour should have been added to the batter last and mixed until just combined.
Hi Aly, if the cake doesn’t come out of a cake pan after 10-15 minutes, then it is for sure stuck. Obviously, cakes sticking to bundt pans is something every baker has dealt with, and you’ll need to figure out what works best with your bundt pan. Also, if your cake didn’t rise, I would check your baking soda or baking powder. As you can see from the photos, this cake definitely rises up. This cake has wonderful reviews but not everyone can have success with every recipe. Thanks so much!
Thanks for your response. I’m going to try making it again and take your suggestion about the baking powder as it is an older can. Also, I will try greasing the Bundt pan even more or might use the baking spray that has flour in it. The cake does have excellent flavor so I feel it’s worth giving it another try.
There is no salt in the batter of this recipe. Is that correct? It has baking soda and baking powder so there is usually a little salt. Please advise!
We don’t add salt to this recipe. Please see the other comments on this cake. Many have enjoyed it. Feel free to add whatever you like.
goody goody cake thank you for sharing!
Made this last weekend after a trip to our favorite orchard! It was delicious! Thank you for sharing. This one is a keeper.
What size bundt pan?
I used a 10 inch.
When the recipe calls for all purpose flour, cake you use self-rising flour snd omit the salt , soda or baking powder?
All-purpose flour is versatile as it contains an average amount of protein. … Self-rising flour should only be used when a recipe calls for self-rising flour because salt and baking powder (which is a leavening agent) have been added and distributed evenly through the flour
Hi, I really wany to make this, I only have spiced apple cider , sould that work…..Love your recipes.

Anyone have any experience making this with an egg substitute. We have an egg allergy in the family and I have subs I can use, but with this many eggs I worry it won’t come out well. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.
