Raisin Bran Cookies - The Southern Lady Cooks

These raisin bran cookies are soft and chewy and one of my very favorite cookies on our site.  These cookies came about when I was trying to think of something to do with some raisin bran cereal I wanted to use.  I am not a big cookie fan but these were irresistible and I ended up eating half of them myself during the day.  I just kept going back to get another one to munch on with my coffee.  Everyone that tried these cookies loved them and wanted more.  There is something about the bran taste along with the raisins and nuts that make these cookies so good.  I think your family will love these and you will make them over and over again.  You might also like our recipe for snickerdoodle cake mix cookies.

Raisin bran cookies will definitely become a favorite.

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 stick butter or 8 tablespoons or 1/2 cup, softened

1 cup brown sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup milk or buttermilk

1 1/2 cups raisin bran cereal

1 cup chopped walnuts

Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl.  In another bowl cream butter, sugar and eggs with mixer.  Add vanilla extract and milk then combine with dry ingredients using mixer.  Fold in bran flakes and nuts with spoon.  Drop by tablespoons on a sprayed cookie sheet.  Bake in 350 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes.  Makes about 2 1/2 dozen depending on size you make your cookies.  Enjoy!
