Crockpot Pork Steak StewThis crock pot pork steak stew is great comfort food on a cold day.  Add my Southern hoecakes or quick peppery cheese bread for a meal your family will enjoy.

1 1/2 to 2 pounds Pork Butt Steak, trimmed of fat and bone removed (You could use pork chops or pork roast in this recipe in place of steaks)
2 to 3 tablespoons oil
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 small onion, chopped (Optional)
1/2 small head of cabbage, chopped
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (4 ounce) can green chilis, drained
4 potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
1 (14.5 ounce) chicken broth
3 teaspoons chili powder
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
few drops hot sauce
Sprinkle pork steak with salt, pepper and garlic powder.  Brown in oil just until brown on both sides.  Layer onion,  cabbage, tomatoes, chilis, and potatoes in crock pot. Pour broth over layers.  Sprinkle on chili powder and add Worcestershire sauce.  Add pork steak on top.  Cook for 7 hours on low or 4 to 5 hours on high. Makes a 3 quart crock pot full. Enjoy!

Just found your page. Love crock pot recipes but these are so much for two people. Could you please give me something for the crock pot for just two people? Thanks.

    • The Southern Lady says:

You can always cut the recipe in half or even less, Charlotte. You don’t have to make the entire recipe.

      • To cut the recipe in half you still need to know the original number of servings. Your recipes do not show this. How many servings are in this recipe?

      • The Southern Lady says:

It says it makes a 3 quart crockpot full. If you figure a cup to a serving it would make approximately 12 servings.

      • Thank you. Wow I had that wrong. I figured with 2 lbs of meat at 4 oz per serving for a total of 8 servings. I forgot the rest of the ingredients. I will remember this or the future since there are only three of us (all seniors) and I use my 3-qt slow cooker the most. I also have a 6-qt for when the grandkids come for a visit.

  2. Thank you for all your great recipes and I intend to try all of them. SINCERLEY DAWN DILLEY
