MAKE YOUR OWN TACO SEASONING
This recipe for taco seasoning is great to have on hand. You no longer have to buy those little packets, you can make as much as you like and you can use it for many other dishes than just tacos. I use this on all kinds of meats both pork and beef. Just sprinkle or rub on the meat for added flavor. I have used it for meats I am grilling and even sprinkled on eggs. Homemade spices will add your own unique taste to many of your recipes if you add your favorites to this recipe and you will get asked for your special blend by friends and family. Keep your spices in a cool, dry space for maximum freshness.
Taco seasoning is easy to make using these simple ingredients:
3 tablespoons chili powder
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon onion powder
3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon cumin
2 teaspoons regular salt or sea salt
1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes
Whisk together and store in airtight container. This makes about 1/2 cup.
Note: I use about 2 tablespoons per pound of meat but you can also use it according to taste. I always double this recipe so I will have available.
