  1. This was delicious – the family ( 4 adults) loved it. I added an extra pepper, 8 oz sliced mushrooms and extra salsa to stretch the sauce. I found the recipe too late for the crock pot so I baked the chicken in the oven. While that was cooking I sauteed the vegetables, then added the Manwich and salsa. I served the chicken and sauce over egg noodles. No leftovers!!!5 stars

Could you shred the chicken and use on buns for a sandwich?

  5. Have made this recipe from The Southern Lady Cooks before. It is so easy to make. Wouldn’t think something so easy would taste so good, but it was yummy!! I did add a little salt to it (I’m from the south and you gotta have salt). Think I’ll make it again tomorrow!!5 stars

Thank you Janet. I am happy you enjoy this recipe. My mother was great on salt, too, and acquired very bad high blood pressure. They just recently came out with new info. in the past week on how bad salt is for you. I guess that is why I don’t use much salt in my recipes although I do like it.

  6. Hi there, just want say love your recipes, as I live in Australia can you tell me what sloppy Joe Sauce is please or what I can substitute for if unable to purchase here, thanks!

Made this last night for dinner. It was wonderful!!! Even our three year old grandaughter wanted more (seconds). Served it over wide egg noodles. When we were through, I dumped the uneaten noodles into the chicken mixture and put in refridgerator to be enjoyed later (which we did today for lunch!!!! Shared this recipe with my recipe clud and gave you credit and told them to look you up here!!! Thank you.5 stars

It not only looks good but it is! Received a “Yummy” critique last night.

Made the recipe exactly as written, but used closer to 6 tablespoons of honey rather than 3 – 4. Otherwise, exactly including the cooking time on low.

As our cooking guide suggested, a salad and bread make it a meal. I also happened to have already prepared and in the fridge a Grean Bean Casserole by Paula Deen (foodnetwork.com) which went very will with. Bread was an Italian loaf turned into buttered and toasted slices under the broiler. Salad was a simple unmeasured mix of romaine, chopped celery and mandarin orange slices. Dressing was 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 1/4 cup each of cider vinegar and sugar with a teaspoon of salt and a pinch of pepper.

    This is definitely a keeper!
Oh – for the salsa I used Paul Newman mild. The heat of this recipe can easily be altered with the choice of salsa and amount and even allow for some individual adjustment at the table by going easy in the recipe and allowing each person to add a bit to their plate if desired.

As I said, definitely a keeper! Enjoy5 stars
