Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking mix like Bisquick or Jiffy Mix or make your own. Try our recipe for making your own biscuit mix
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter
  • 1/3 cup milk or buttermilk I usually use buttermilk

Instructions

  • Whisk together the baking mix and thyme in a bowl.  Cut butter into small pieces or grate it on a hand grater and cut into flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add milk and stir with a spoon until batter comes together.  Turn out on floured surface, knead several times and cut about 1/2 inch thick with biscuit cutter or small glass.  I use a 2 inch cutter.
  • Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes until start to brown on top. I always brush my tops with extra melted butter.  Makes 8 small biscuits.
