Sausage Sauerkraut Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of Johnsonville Italian Mild Sausage
  • 2 red apples peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup of white onion chopped
  • 24 ounces of sauerkraut drained
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds
  • 3/4 th cup of water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a skillet, brown sausage with onion over medium heat. Drain and add remaining ingredients. Mix well and cook in oven for 15 minutes.
  • Take out of oven after 15 minutes, stir and cook the another 15 minutes. I made this in an iron skillet and didn't cover it. You can easily combine the ingredients in a casserole dish to cook in the oven. Makes 4-6 servings.
