10medium sized applespeeled and cored, cut up in pieces (I used Red Delicious for this one but you could use about any kind of apple)
1cupwater
1/2cupbrown sugar
2teaspoonsground cinnamon
1/2teaspoonground nutmeg
1/4teaspoonground allspice
1/4teaspooncardamom
2 to 3tablespoonshoney
Instructions
Mix together water, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cardamom and honey with a wire whisk.
Pour over apples.
Cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or high 4 hours.
Notes
Will keep at least two weeks or longer in the fridge. Makes about 1 1/2 quarts. You can mash up the apples in the cooked sauce if you want to make it smoother. We like it chunky and I like the chunky better for using in recipes.
