Tennessee Onions

This dish for Tennessee Onion is one you will make over and over. It's wonderful side dish for any gathering, especially the holidays. It's also fantastic as a topping for burgers and hotdogs.

Ingredients

  • 3 large sweet onions peeled and thinly sliced (regular or sweet Vidalia onions)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 4 tablespoons butter thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon parsley flakes

Instructions

  • Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray. Peel and thinly slice onions into dish. Sprinkle on garlic powder, salt, black pepper and Italian seasoning.
  • Add thinly sliced butter pieces over onions. Sprinkle on Parmesan and cheddar cheese. Add parsley flakes.
  • Bake in preheated 325 degree oven, uncovered for 40 minutes. Can turn on broiler for a couple minutes if you want it brown on top.
  • Makes 8 to 10 servings.

Notes

This recipe is so versatile in that you can add more onions to the dish depending on how many people you are serving. You can also make this using 3 different cheeses and add an Italian blend of cheese to the recipe.
