Lemon Chess Bars
A classic Lemon Chess Bars recipe with a buttery crust and sweet-tart lemon filling. Easy, crowd-pleasing dessert perfect for picnics, parties, & summer baking.

Ingredients
Crust

lemon cake mix

cup
of butter
melted

large egg

of powdered sugar

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
DO NOT make the cake according to the directions on the box. In a medium bowl, stir together the cake mix, one egg, and the melted butter.
Press the mixture into the bottom of the pan. This makes the bottom layer of the chess bars.
Next, add cream cheese to the same bowl and beat until smooth and creamy. Add butter and mix to combine.
Add in eggs until they are thoroughly mixed in. Stir in lemon juice and powdered sugar.
Pour this mixture over the crust layer.
Bake for 40-45 minutes. When the edges begin to brown, but the center is still a bit jiggly, it is done.
Allow to cool at room temperature for at least an hour, dust with a little powdered sugar, cut, and serve.
