Homemade Enchilada Sauce

We love making homemade sauces and this enchilada sauce has great reviews!

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil can use canola or olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 14 ounce can chicken broth or 2 cups
  • 1 6 ounce can tomato paste
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon white granulated sugar

Instructions

  • Heat oil on top of the stove and stir in the flour until smooth and bubbles form.  Add remaining ingredients and bring to boil.  Turn to low and simmer 8 to 10 minutes.  Makes 3 cups
