Dixie Pork Chops

These dixie pork chops are delicious and your family will love them! Made with apples and raisins and has a wonderful flavor.

Ingredients

  • 6 to 8 medium sized boneless pork chops
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sage
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 to 4 cored tart apples sliced and unpeeled
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Instructions

  • Brown pork chops in butter on top of the stove. Remove from skillet and sprinkle with salt and sage.
  • Put in a 2 quart casserole dish and either top with apple rings or stagger in dish between the pork chops. Sprinkle apples and pork chops with brown sugar.
  • Add flour to skillet drippings where chops were browned. Add hot water and vinegar bring to a boil stirring constantly. Cook until thick like gravy. Remove pan from heat and stir in raisins. Pour over pork chops and apples. Cover and bake in preheated 350 degree oven for one hour.

Notes

Could brown pork chops in oil instead of butter.
Can use light or dark brown sugar
Could use white vinegar
Can use self-rising flour
If you don’t own an apple corer slice apples and use a knife to remove core in center of slices
We used Granny Smith apples in recipe but any tart apple will do.
