Crock Pot Round Steak Stew

- 1 pound of round steak cut in 1/2 inch cubes
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 14.5 ounce cans beef broth
- 1 6 ounce can tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon marjoram
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 3 large potatoes peeled and cut in cubes
- 2 carrots scraped and cut in rounds
- 2 stalks of celery chopped
- 1 bay leaf
Whisk together the flour, paprika, salt, pepper and garlic powder in a shallow dish. Dredge the steak and chopped onions in the flour mixture. Heat butter and oil in a skillet on top of the stove and brown meat and onions.
Add meat and onions to a 3 quart crock pot. In a bowl whisk together the beef broth, tomato paste, marjoram and parsley. Pour over meat and onions in the crock pot. Add the potatoes, carrots and celery along with the bay leaf.
Cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or high for 4 to 5 hours or until vegetables are tender. Remove bay leaf before serving. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
