Pastry Ingredients
- 1 roll of puff pastry dough room temperature
- 1 egg for egg wash
Cream Cheese Mixture Ingredients
- 1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Glaze Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons of milk more if needed
- 2 cups of powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, with a mixer, beat together cream cheese ingredients until fluffy.
Roll out the pastry dough and cut into 12 blocks. Place each block on your parchment paper lined baking sheet. Place two tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry.
Take a knife and score the edges of each danish, about ½ inch from the edge. You don't want to cut all the way through the dough, but enough to make an indention.
Beat one egg and brush the edges with egg. This will give you a brown edge.
Bake in preheated oven for 12-14 minutes.
Combine glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled danishes
Makes 12 danishes.
We keep any left over in the refrigerator.
I am counting a serving as two danishes, so this recipe makes six servings. I don't know anyone who only eats one danish. The recipe makes 12.
