- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs
- 12 tablespoons butter or 1 1/2 sticks softened
- 1 1/4 cups white granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Cinnamon Cake Sauce:
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cake Directions:
Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon and salt in a bowl. In a mixing bowl use mixer to cream together the butter, sugar and eggs. Add vanilla extract to creamed mixture while mixing. Add the creamed mixture to the dry ingredients, pour in buttermilk and mix until all ingredients are wet.
Spray a 10 inch bundt cake pan with cooking spray and add cake batter. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until center tests done.
Cinnamon Sauce Directions:
Combine sugar, water, butter, cinnamon and flour in a saucepan on top of the stove. Bring to a low boil and cook until thickens. Only takes a minute or two. Stir in vanilla extract. Makes about 2 cups cinnamon sauce.
You can punch holes in the cake and pour 1/2 the sauce over the entire cake or use the sauce to pour over individual cake slices.
