Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

These easy bars are a good idea any time. If you like chocolate and peanut butter, you'll love them!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or 8 tablespoons or 1 stick softened
  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter crunchy or smooth
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats uncooked
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Topping Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons evaporated milk or regular milk
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter

Instructions

  • Cream together butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, peanut butter and vanilla extract in a bowl with mixer. Whisk together flour, salt, baking soda and uncooked oats in another bowl.
  • Combine the flour mixture with the butter mixture and mix. Spread in a 9 x 9 sprayed or greased baking dish. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and spread chocolate chips over top. Then add topping.

Topping Instructions:

  • Stir topping ingredients until of pouring consistency. You can add more milk if needed. Drizzle over bars. Let cool and cut into squares. Makes 12 to 15 bars depending on the size you cut them.
