Brown Sugar Pop Tarts

These brown sugar pop tarts are made with pastry dough. So easy and come together quickly! Perfect for a weekend morning.

Ingredients

  • 1 roll puff pastry dough
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoon heavy cream

For the Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 5 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out pastry dough. Cut the dough into 12 square blocks. In a small bowl beat one egg and whisk in the 2 tablespoons of heavy cream to create an egg wash.
  • In a separate bowl combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, melted butter and vanilla extract. It will resemble wet sand.
  • With a pastry brush, you will brush the egg wash over 6 of the blocks. Next add about 2-3 tablespoons of the filling in the center of the egg washed blocks.
  • Place another block on each pastry and crimp the edges with a fork. Then egg wash the top block and crimped edges. Take a fork and poke 3-4 holes in the top of each pastry.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool.

Icing Instructions

  • In a bowl combine all the icing ingredients and mix until it's a consistency you can spread. You may need more cream. Using a knife a spread icing on each pop tart.
