Ingredients
5piecesbaconcooked, drained and crumbled (save drippings)
115 ounce can mandarin oranges in light syrup, drained, reserve syrup (You could use fresh oranges in the salad and orange juice in the dressing
2 to 3cupsfresh baby spinach
1/3cuppurple onioncut up or chopped (could use green onion or just regular onion)
2teaspoonstoasted sesame seedscould use toasted almonds or just about any kind of nuts you like
DRESSING
3 to 4tablespoonsbacon drippings
1/4teaspoongarlic powder
2tablespoonsred wine vinegar
1/3cuplight mandarin orange syrup
2tablespoonswater
1/4teaspoonblack pepper
1tablespoonlemon juice
2teaspoonssugarOptional
Instructions
Combine salad ingredients and toss to mix well. Combine dressing ingredients and heat until warm. I put my dressing in a small pitcher like a cream pitcher and let each person add the amount they want at the table. Salad will keep in the fridge for a couple days without dressing.
Notes
You can buy sesame seeds already toasted in the spice section of your supermarket or you can put them on a baking sheet and toast in 325 degree oven about 10 minutes until brown.
