The Kentucky mint julep has been a tradition for years. Served at Churchill Downs in Louisville during the Kentucky Derby for nearly a century. This is a great “sippin” drink to enjoy while relaxing on those hot summer Southern afternoons or just any time you need something cold and smooth.

Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Place 3 or 4 mint leaves in bottom of tall glass, add about an ounce of the syrup. Use a wooden spoon handle crush or mash the leaves to extract flavor into the syrup. Fill glass with crushed ice, pour in 2 ounces of bourbon. Can add a dash of water if you want to cut it some. Garnish with mint and Enjoy!
