How to Make Homemade Fried Pickles

This easy recipe for fried pickles is wonderful to enjoy with family and friends. We love these with our homemade ranch dressing.

  • 1 cup pickle slices I use Vlasic oval hamburger dill chips
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour divided
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • pinch cayenne
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup beer can use milk or buttermilk if you don't use alcohol
  • cooking oil
  • salt to taste


  • Whisk together 1/2 cup of the flour, baking powder, black pepper, cayenne. egg and beer. Put the other 1/2 cup flour in another bowl. Dip pickles slices in the egg batter and then in the dry flour. Have about 1/4 to 1/2 inch oil hot in your skillet. Cook about 1 minute on each side, remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle on salt to taste. This makes about 20 to 25 fried pickles.
