Apple Spice Cake with Caramel Frosting

  • 1 15.25 ounce Betty Crocker Super Moist Spice Cake Mix with pudding in the mix
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil I used Canola
  • 2 cups apples peeled and grated or finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Caramel Frosting

  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons evaporated milk or regular milk
  • 1 1/2 cups confectionery sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup walnut pieces or nuts of your choice.


  • Mix all ingredients together with mixer. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes.

Frosting Instructions

  • Melt butter in pan on top of stove. Add brown sugar and cook until sugar melts. Add milk, bring to boil. Remove from stove and add confectionery sugar and vanilla. Beat with mixer, adding more milk if needed. Fold in nuts or spinkle on top of frosting. . Spread on cake.
