Chocolate Pudding Cake

Ingredients

Cake:

  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2/3 cup milk

Topping:

  • 6 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water

Instructions

  • I make this in a 7 1/2 x 11 inch baking dish. You can use a 2 quart casserole dish as well. Mix butter, sugar, cocoa and salt together with a spoon right in the dish. Add flour, baking powder, and milk and mix well. In a separate bowl, mix cocoa and brown sugar and sprinkle over cake.
  • Pour boiling water over the entire thing and do not mix. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 35 minutes. Cake will be on top with pudding bubbling through. Delicious with ice cream.
