Make Your Own Barbecue Sauce

This barbecue sauce is delicious! It is great on all kinds of meat. You can use it on beef, pork, chicken or even wild game. You can double the recipe or make as much as you need. It keeps well in the refrigerator for several weeks. You can use it as a marinade, baste food on the grill or use it as a sauce on the side. We grill all year round at my house and always use this sauce. My family loves it.

1 cup tomato ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup honey or molasses
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons onion flakes
1 tablespoon butter
pinch cayenne (optional)
1 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)

Whisk together all ingredients, bring to low boil on top of the stove and simmer about 10 minutes. Let cool, pour into container. Makes 2 cups. Enjoy!
