Fried pickles make a wonderful appetizer or snack for when you have friends over or just anytime. These fried pickles are great with ranch dressing or my homemade buttermilk ranch dressing.
1cup pickle slices (I use Vlasic oval hamburger dill chips)
1cup all-purpose flour, divided
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup beer (can use milk or buttermilk if you don’t use alcohol)
salt to taste
Whisk together 1/2 cup of the flour, baking powder, black pepper, cayenne. egg and beer. Put the other 1/2 cup flour in another bowl. Dip pickles slices in the egg batter and then in the dry flour. Have about 1/4 to 1/2 inch oil hot in your skillet. Cook about 1 minute on each side, remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle on salt to taste. This makes about 20 to 25 fried pickles. Enjoy!
