Tartar SauceThis is a very simple recipe and so easy to make.  We love this tartar sauce and I keep it in the refrigerator in summer for fish sandwiches and whenever we decide to fry fish.  It is great to make up for a fish fry and your can double or triple the recipe or make as much as you need.  It keeps for weeks refrigerated. Why pay for bottled tartar sauce when making your own is so easy.

1 cup mayonnaise (can use Miracle Whip)

2 to 3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish, drained

1 to 2 tablespoons minced onion

1 tablespoon lemon juice, (optional) can use fresh or bottled

1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed

1/8 teaspoon black pepper or to taste

1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste

Mix all ingredients together using a whisk or spoon. Refrigerate a couple hours before serving or overnight.

Makes 1 cup.

  1. Glad to see this recipe! Mom always made our tartar sauce, therefore so have I. So much better than purchased! We didn’t add the dill weed, but definitely will be trying it! Thank you!

We enjoy your comments but due to the large volume we must delete comments often. We try to do this weekly and sometimes more often. Positive comments about a recipe you tried and loved are always welcome. Thank you so much for commenting here.
